Last month I posted a pattern and video tutorial for the Puff Stitch Hat. I was thrilled to see that it received an overwhelming response. If you made one for yourself, you already understand how much gauge impacts the overall size of your hat and amount of yarn that you use. After making my hat, I was left with another skein of yarn and decided to make some matching fingerless gloves. Those of you on Facebook and Instagram fell in love with them and I decided I just had to share them with you!
The puff stitch fingerless gloves follow the same gauge principle as the puff stitch hat. Everyone makes puff stitches a little different in size so this pattern and tutorial should serve as a guideline rather than a definitive pattern. You may need to try them on as you work this pattern and adjust the number of rounds and stitches accordingly.

Gauge and Sizing
The gauge for the puff stitches are as follows: 3.5 stitches x 4 rows = 2″
The finished fingerless glove should measure 4.5″ wide by 6.5″ long (when laying flat). The wrist circumference is approximately 5″.
- BLO – Back Loop Only
- Ch – Chain
- Pf – Puff Stitch
- Sc – Single Crochet
- Slst – Slip Stitch
- Sts – Stitches
Puff Stitch (Pf) – Insert hook into designated stitch, YO and pull up a loop. Insert hook into same stitch, YO and pull up a loop. Insert hook into same stitch, YO and pull up a loop (7 loops on hook). YO and pull through all 7 loops. Chain 1.
This pattern works puff stitches in between the stitches of the previous round. You will not work into the v’s of the stitch until you’ve reached the band.
This pattern works the wrist band first in a flat piece, requiring you to sew the two ends together before continuing. You will then continue the fingerless glove by working in the round.
