Pattern Notes

This adorable little crochet star is currently available in one size only. You can change the size slightly by using thicker yarn and/or a larger hook for a bigger star or using a thinner yarn and/or a smaller hook for a smaller star. When you use a medium-weight yarn and the recommended hook size, your crochet star will measure about 4″ wide. If your measurements aren’t exactly the same, there’s nothing to worry about.

To make a bigger crochet star: Use bulky weight yarn (#5) and a 6.5 mm crochet hook

To make a smaller crochet star: Use lightweight yarn (#3) and a 4 mm crochet hook.

You can experiment with different yarn weights and hook sizes to change the finished size of your star, and there’s no need to make any adjustments to the pattern. This is the easiest way to crochet a bigger or smaller star.

Additionally, you should know that the chain 3 at the beginning of the first round counts as a double crochet.

Gauge: Use the finished size to check your gauge.

Finished Size: 4″ wide

Finishing the Crochet Star

If you’re unfamiliar with blocking, we have another article that will show you everything you need to know about it!
