The pebble crochet stitch is versatile enough to work well with just about any weight yarn. Pair it with a smooth roving or plied yarn to let the texture be the focus.

  • Hk Hook
  • Sc Single Crochet
  • Eesc Extra Extended Single Crochet**
  • Rem Remaining
  • Rep Repeat
  • St(s) Stitch(es)
  • YO Yarn Over

** Extra Extended Single Crochet (Eesc): Insert hk in designated st. YO and pull up a loop. [YO and pull through one loop on your hook] twice. YO and pull through 2 loops.

Additional Notes: Chain one at beginning of row does not count as a stitch.

Written Instructions


Row 1: Ch any even number. 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each rem ch. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in first st. *Eesc next st. 1 sc in next st. Rep from * to the end of row. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1. 1 sc in first st and in each rem st. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 1. 1 sc in first 2 sts. *Eesc next st. 1 sc in next st. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.

Row 5: Ch 1. 1 sc in first st and in each rem st. Turn.

Repeat: Rep rows 2-5 until your project measures the length you want. End on an odd number row for an edge that matches the starting edge.
