12″ circumference

Use first 4 rds to measure
gauge = 4.25″ diameter

Written Instructions

Round 1: Ch 3. 8 hdc in 3rd ch from hk. Join with a slst to first st. (8 sts)

Round 2: Ch 1. 2 hdc in same st as ch and each st to last. Join with a slst to first st. (16 sts)

Round 3: Ch 1. 2 hdc in same st as ch. *1 hdc in next st. 2 hdc in next st. Rep from * to end of round. Join with a slst to first st. (24 sts)

Round 4: Ch 1. 1 hdc in same st as ch and in next st. *2 hdc in next st. 1 hdc in next 2 sts. Rep from * to end of round. Join with a slst to first st. (32 sts)

Rounds 4-9: Ch 1. 1 hdc in same st as ch and in every st. Join with a slst to first st. (32sts)


Fasten off and weave in your ends. Add optional “Critter” buttons near the edge of the hat.

Use a pom-pom maker or your fingers to make a pom that’s about 2″ in diameter.
