Pattern Notes:

African flowers are the perfect foundation for a hexagon motif. You can stitch them together to make everything from stuffed animals to purses.

This pattern begins the round with the magic ring. If you have never heard of the magic ring before, I recommend you take a look at my tutorial:

How to Crochet the magic ring

If the magic ring is your worst enemy – try working the alternate method. It’s much easier!

Round 2: Ch 3. Dc into the same stitch as your ch 3. *Ch 1. Dc two times in the next stitch* Repeat all the way around. Join the last chain with the third chain from the start of the round. You should have 8 groups of two double crochets.

Round 3: If you intend to make a multicolored flower, this is the perfect opportunity to change colors. When you start your new color do so in one of the chain one spaces. If you will not be changing colors at this time, slst until you reach a chain one space.

Ch 3. *Dc two times in the chain one space. Ch 2. Dc two times into the same chain one space. Ch 1.* Continue this repeat into the next chain one space and all the way around. Join the last chain with the third chain from the start of the round. You should still have 8 groups of double crochets.

Round 5: If you are crocheting a multicolored flower, switch to your third color now. Ch 1. Sc until you reach the space in between two petals. Join with a slst to the first single crochet. Fasten off.
