Thanks for that review about the Boye yarn winder. I thought it looked good and easy to use. I didn’t think it was particularly slow and the problems you had with it seemed fairly minor and easy to fix (well the yarn catching at least). I do think the amount of yarn it will wind at one time is more of a problem but not again a huge one and at times it is good to have 2 separate balls of wool ie when knitting booties you can do 2 at a time without hassles with the wool. I usually use the inside end of one bootie and the outside for the other but it can get tangled or a bit of a mess. Also when knitting or crocheting with double the wool you have the balls separate as well. I would love to have a wool winder but as a disabled person on a pension money is hard. I will definately now think of buying an electric one rather than the handle one as that was another reason why I hadn’t bought one yet. M

    • These are very good points. I can always cut my skein and make two yarn cakes if I need to wind up a brand new one. As far as the price goes, they are pretty pricey. If you live in an area with Michaels or Hobby Lobby, you can use the weekly 40% off coupon!

Thanks for the video.. It helped me a lot to watch it. I have had one of these ball winders, for over 2 years and haven’t taken it out of the box yet. Now that I saw this video, it looks much easier to use than I thought! Thanks again!
