Pattern Notes
This pattern is really quick and easy so expect to make a lot of these! You should finish your pair of barefoot sandals in less than an hour and use less than 50 yards of yarn.
The sizing of this pattern is based on a size 7 foot. If you wear a smaller size shoe then you will need to chain less than the amount listed for the toe and heel strap or if you wear a larger size shoe you will need to chain more than the amount listed for the toe and heel strap. The sections which determine the size are clearly marked on the written pattern as well as discussed in the video tutorial. You may need to try your barefoot sandals on to customize them to fit your foot.

Written pattern
Begin this pattern by chaining 3 and joining with the first chain to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3. Dc two more times into center of ring. Ch 2. Dc 3 into center of ring. Ch2. Dc 3 into center of ring. Ch 2. Join with a slst to the 3rd chain of the chain 3 at the beginning of the round. (9 Dc)
Round 2: Ch 3. Dc one more time into the chain 2 gap space. *Dc into each stitch until you reach the corner (3 stitches). To create the corner: Dc 2, Ch 2, Dc 2. Repeat from * around. Join with a slst to the 3rd chain from your chain 3 at the beginning of the round. (21 Dc)
Round 3: Ch 3. Dc one more time into the chain 2 gap space. *Dc into each stitch until you reach the corner (7 stitches). To create the corner: Dc 2, Ch 2, Dc 2. Repeat from * around. Join with a slst to the 3rd chain from your chain 3 at the beginning of the round. (33 Dc)
Round 4: Ch 3. Dc one more time into the chain 2 gap space. *Dc into each stitch until you reach the corner (13 stitches). The first corner will be the bottom of the barefoot sandal and we will create the toe strap. Dc 2 into the chain 2 gap space of the first corner. Ch 12 (for a size US 7 shoe. You may need to adjust this number to fit your foot) and Dc 2 into the same chain 2 gap space. *Dc into each stitch until you reach the corner (13 stitches). To create next corner: Dc 2, Ch 2, Dc 2. Repeat from * to end of round. Join with a slst to the 3rd chain from your chain 3 at the beginning of the round. (45 Dc)
To create the heel strap: Ch 26 (for a size US 7 shoe. You may need to adjust this number to fit your foot). Be sure that your chain is not twisted and slst the chain to the opposite corner to secure the heel strap in place. Bind off and weave in your ends.

thank you for your free pattern however i am confused re the written pattern. At beginning of Rnd 4 it states DC into the ch 2 gap space however there are no instructions at end of Rnd 3 to ch2 before slip stitching. Am I supposed to ch2 st end of rnd 3? Thank you in advance if you answer
Thanks so much! I made a pair with Cotton Ease and G hook, turned out perfect. Want to add beads on next pair on last round, but beads end up on wrong side. Know of a way to keep them on right side?
These are so simple but so cute! I’m already imagining variations!
Did you use (3) yarn or (3) cotton? I’m thinking yarn because of the hook size, but isn’t (3) cotton smaller/lighter than (3) yarn? I’ve never used it. Do you think it would still work? Change hook size to D or E? What are your thoughts?
Do you have a pattern of this for babies by chance?
Could you use a magic circle to start instead of a chain 3 join?
Thank you, I posted a pic on Facebook of my sandal using Tilly Thomas silk and I loved it so much I made another! Took me 25 minutes total for a pair. I love these instant gratification projects!
Thank you for the pattern. I look forward to following it. Look so cute 🙂
