About this Pattern

If you’re looking for a quick and easy hat that’s still interesting enough to crochet, this is a great place to start. The crown of this hat spirals around, revealing a pretty texture that looks great with a variety of yarns. For most people, each one works up in less than 2 hours making it perfect for gifting, donating, filling your shop or keeping a few for yourself.

With this project you’ll also get to try out a great option for hat bands. It looks similar to a slip stitch rib, but it’s infinitely easier to crochet. Choose a solid yarn, slightly textured yarn or something in a striking color. This versatile pattern works with most medium weight yarns.

Additional Notes:

This pattern is worked from the crown to the band. To achieve the spiral look, all stitches of the crown and hat sides are worked in the back loops only.

To make the adult small, use the smaller of the hook sizes; to make the adult large, use the larger of the two hook sizes. Check your gauge and make sure it matches the size you want to make.

You can easily substitute another medium-weight yarn. Just be sure to check your gauge so the sizing turns out as expected.
