Pattern Notes

The Reversible Tunisian Crochet Boot Cuffs are worked in the round using a double ended crochet hook. You will not be able to substitute a standard Tunisian crochet hook for this pattern. Stitches must be worked onto the hook using the Simply Soft yarn in the forward direction and worked off the hook using the Unforgettable yarn on the other side of the hook. The Tunisian simple stitch inherently has a reversible pattern that looks amazing on either side.

The pattern recommends making 46 chains to start out with. You may need to modify this number to fit your calf. Keep in mind when sizing up your chain that you will need to accommodate the extra bulk of the pants you will be wearing underneath them. Also note that the Tunisian simple stitch is a tight stitch and the finished product will be slightly smaller than the original size of the chain. Following the pattern and chaining 46 will create a boot cuff that will fit around a calf that is approximately 13.5″ around. Adding extra or making fewer chains will not change the remainder of the pattern. I recommend that you chain the number that fits your calf and continue on with the bind on step.

Written Instructions

Polo and Bone with Boots Reverse Small

With yarn A:

Ch 46 {verify that this chain fits comfortably around your calf. Modify the number of chains accordingly}

Join with a Slst to the first chain being careful that the chain is not twisted.

Fasten on

Insert your hook into the first chain, YO and pull up a loop. Leave that loop on your hook. Insert your hook into the next chain, YO and pull up a loop. Leave that loop on your hook. Repeat until you have approximately 20 loops on your hook. Create a slip knot with yarn B. Slide the stitches to the other end of the hook and add yarn B to hook. YO and pull through first loop. YO and pull through two loops until you have 3-4 loops remaining. Slide the stitches to the other end of the hook and pick up yarn A.

Continue to add loops onto the hook with yarn A and working them off with yarn B until you have completed the first round.

Working in spiral

When you have completed your bind on step, work the Tss in a spiral fashion by adding loops with yarn A and working them off with yarn B. Work in a spiral until you have 19 completed rounds and one incomplete round.

Fasten off

Work all loops off your hook with yarn B until you only have one loop of yarn A and one loop of yarn B. Pull the yarn A loop through the yarn B loop. Working with yarn A, insert your hook into the next bar, YO and pull up a loop and pull that same loop through the loop on your hook. Repeat for all remaining stitches. Once you have worked the bind off for all stitches, slst into the stitch of yarn B. Slst into the next stitch.

Bind off and weave in ends.
