Pattern Notes

After adding the border and blocking, the wash cloths will measure approximately 8.5″ long by 6.5″ wide. The estimated gauge for the single crochet and multi-colored wash cloth is 7 stitches and 7 rows = 2″ square. The estimated gauge for the half double crochet wash cloth is 7 stitches and 7 rows = 2″ square. The estimated gauge for the double crochet wash cloth is 7 stitches and 4 rows = 2″ square. You may change hook size to obtain proper gauge if needed.

It is recommended that you crochet a border around your wash cloths, but is not absolutely required. The tutorial demonstrating how to do a single crochet border around each of the four wash cloths can be viewed at the end of this post.

You will only use approximately 50 yards of yarn for each wash cloth. If you purchase 3 full skeins, you will be able to make the complete set shown here and have some left over to make a couple more in the stitch of your choice.

Recommended Color Combinations

You can choose any three colors to fit your decor. If you wish to duplicate my set, you should purchase the following colors: hot blue, warm brown and chocolate ombre. These are the colors shown in the image above. The tutorial for the multicolored wash cloth uses a different color, robin’s egg.
