Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked in the round, using two separate half circles to cover the Styrofoam ball. The two pieces are then slip stitched together to create the decorative stripe pattern around the ball. Note that this pattern will only work with a 3″ ball.

Assembly

Place the crochet half circles on the Styrofoam ball and pull it down as far as it will go. Be sure to line your joining seams for both halves to make your ornament look best. Place your hook into the back loop only of one of the stitches at the back of the ornament.

CB 23 CB 24 CB 25

Bind on your second color. Slst into the back loops only of every stitch around the ornament. You want to make your slip stitches relatively loose to maintain the proper tension. Join with a slst to the bind on stitch.

CB 26 CB 27 CB 28 CB 29 CB 30

Bind off and weave in your ends.

Create the loop to hand it from the branch

Cut yourself a scrap piece of yarn in the color of your choice that is approximately 7″ long. Thread that strand on your darning needle. Slip your need in between the stitches of round one and back out the other side. Tie a knot at the top.
