  • 3 skeins Lion Brand Fettuccine yarn, 264 yds
  • Size 9 mm Crochet Hook

Your finished basket will measure approximately 9″ tall and 16″ wide.

Pattern Notes

The crochet yarn stash basket is perfect for holding all of your yarn. The T-shirt yarn is extra durable and stretchy so you can just keep stuffing it in.

This pattern is worked from the bottom of the basket up, worked in the round.

Written Pattern

Crochet Yarn Stash Basket

Using color one (red shown)

Round 1: Ch 3. Join with a slst to first chain to form a ring. Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch 2 corner). Make 3 dc in the center of the ring. Ch 2. Make 3 dc in the center of ring. Ch 2. Make 3 dc in the center of ring. Ch 2. Make 2 dc in first chain and join with a slst to the 3th chain. (12 sts)

Round 2: Ch 5. Make 2 dc in the ch 2 space. *1 dc in the next 3 sts. 2 dc in ch 2 space, ch 2, 2 dc in same ch 2 space. Repeat from * around the square. In last corner, dc once in ch 2 gap space and join with a slst to the 3rd chain. (28 sts)

Round 3: Ch 5. Make 2 dc in the ch 2 space. *1 dc in the next 7 sts. 2 dc in ch 2 space, ch 2, 2 dc in same ch 2 space. Repeat from * around the square. In last corner, dc once in ch 2 gap space and join with a slst to the 3rd chain. (44 sts)

Round 4: Ch 5. Make 2 dc in the ch 2 space. *1 dc in the next 11 sts. 2 dc in ch 2 space, ch 2, 2 dc in same ch 2 space. Repeat from * around the square. In last corner, dc once in ch 2 gap space and join with a slst to the 3rd chain. (60 sts)

Round 5: Ch 5. Make 2 dc in the ch 2 space. *1 dc in the next 15 sts. 2 dc in ch 2 space, ch 2, 2 dc in same ch 2 space. Repeat from * around the square. In last corner, dc once in ch 2 gap space and join with a slst to the 3rd chain. (76 sts)

Round 6: Ch 5. Make 2 dc in the ch 2 space. *1 dc in the next 19 sts. 2 dc in ch 2 space, ch 2, 2 dc in same ch 2 space. Repeat from * around the square. In last corner, dc once in ch 2 gap space and join with a slst to the 3rd chain. (92 sts)



Round 7: Ch 3. Working in the Flo, make 1 dc in the ch 2 space. *Make one dc in the Flo of each of the next 27 sts. Dc 2 in the ch 2 space. Repeat from *  around the square. In last corner, dc once in ch 2 gap space and join with a slst to the 3rd chain.

Rounds 8-10: Ch 3. Make 1 dc in the ch 2 space. *Make one dc in each of the next 27 sts. Dc 2 in the ch 2 space. Repeat from *  around the square. In last corner, dc once in ch 2 gap space and join with a slst to the 3rd chain.

Bind off red color and bind on white color.

Rounds 11-15: Ch 3. Make 1 dc in the ch 2 space. *Make one dc in each of the next 27 sts. Dc 2 in the ch 2 space. Repeat from *  around the square. In last corner, dc once in ch 2 gap space and join with a slst to the 3rd chain.

Bind off white color and bind on red color.

Rounds 16-18: Ch 3. Make 1 dc in the ch 2 space. *Make one dc in each of the next 27 sts. Dc 2 in the ch 2 space. Repeat from *  around the square. In last corner, dc once in ch 2 gap space and join with a slst to the 3rd chain.

Fasten off and weave in your ends.
