This darling little stocking makes great last minute gifts, gifts for coworkers and friends or even decorations! Each one requires only 40 yards of yarn and about 45 minutes to make. You can be as creative as you like with the coloring!
The crochet mini stocking is worked from the band, downward. Follow along with the images I have provided to guide you through the trickier spots.
Round 1: Ch 20. Join with slst to form ring. Ch 1 (do not count as stitch) Sc in every chain. Do not join at end of round. Continue working in spiral.
Rounds 2-8: Make on sc in every stitch. On 8th round after last sc stitch, make a slst in the next stitch to adjust spiral transition. Fasten off.
Fold band downward so the right side of the work faces outward.
With opening of fold pointing up, join the new yarn in any stitch at the back of the band (I recommend joining in the stitch right next to your fasten off from color A). Make sure you join to a stitch that’s on the inside of the fold.
Rounds 1-6: Ch 3 (counts as stitch). Dc in each stitch. Join with a slst to the 3rd chain.
Fasten off color B at end of round 6.
Join yarn 5 stitches to the right of your join from round 6 (5 stitches to the right if you are left handed).
Row 1: Ch 1. Sc in same stitch as ch 1. Sc in next 9 sts. (10 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1 and turn. Sc2tog over first two stitches. Sc in next 6 stitches. Sc2tog over last two stitches. (8 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1 and turn. Sc2tog over first two stitches. Sc in next 4 stitches. Sc2tog over last two stitches. (6 sts)
Row 4: Ch 1 and turn. Sc2tog over first two stitches. Sc in next 2 stitches. Sc2tog over last two stitches. (4 sts)
Row 5: Ch 1 and turn. Sc2tog over first two stitches. Sc2tog over last two stitches. (2 sts)
Row 6: Ch 1 and turn. Make 2 sc in each of the two stitches. (4 sts)
Row 7: Ch 1 and turn. Make 2 sc in first stitch. Sc in next 2 stitches. Make 2 sc in last stitch. (6 sts)
Row 8: Ch 1 and turn. Make 2 sc in first stitch. Sc in next 4 stitches. Make 2 sc in last stitch. (8 sts)
Row 9: Ch 1 and turn. Make 2 sc in first stitch. Sc in next 6 stitches. Make 2 sc in last stitch. (10 sts)
Rows 1-9 have created a flat “hour glass” shaped piece. Fold the top half of the hourglass shape downward, toward the outside of the stocking (wrong side out). Fasten off leaving a tail that is approximately 6″ long. Use the tail to sew up the two edges. Turn right side out and lay flat for the next part of the stocking.
Lay your stocking flat with the wrong side facing up. Join yarn at back of stocking in the middle stitch of the heel.
Round 1: Ch 1. Sc in the same stitch. Sc in next 4 stitches. Sc2tog over last stitch of heel and first stitch of leg. Sc in next 8 sts. Sc2tog over last stitch of leg and first stitch of heel. Sc in last 3 stitches of heel. Join with slst to first stitch.
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as stitch). Dc in next 4 stitches. Dc2tog over next two stitches. Dc in next 7 stitches. Dc2tog over next two stitches. Dc in last 2 stitches. Join with a slst to the 3rd chain.
Rounds 3-4: Ch 3 (counts as stitch). Dc in every stitch. Join with a slst to 3rd chain. (16 sts)
Fasten on in the same stitch as your fasten off from the previous round.
Round 1: Ch 1. Sc in same stitch as chain. Sc in next 5 stitches. Sc2tog. Sc in next 6 stitches. Sc2tog. Join with slst to first stitch. (14 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1 (counts as stitch). Sc in next 4 stitches. Sc2tog. Sc in next 5 stitches. Sc2tog. Join with a slst to the 1st chain. (12 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1 (counts as stitch). Sc in next stitch. Sc2tog. Sc in next 2 stitches. Sc2tog. Sc in next 2 stitches. Sc2tog. Sc in last two stitches. Join with a slst to the first chain. (9 sts)
Round 4: Ch 1 (counts as stitch). Sc2tog. Sc in next stitch. Sc2tog. Sc in next stitch. Sc2tog. Sc in last stitch. Join with a slst to the 1st chain. (6 sts)
Round 5: Sc2tog three times. Join with a slst to the first stitch.
Fasten off and secure the toe closure with your tail.
