The spring time always gets me in the mood to crochet baby projects – it just makes me think of new life I guess. This year is extra special because my sister is expecting her second baby, a little girl!
I have taken this special opportunity to crochet ALL the baby things for her! I fell in love with the Caron Fair and Square blanket by Yarnspirations when looking for that special baby blanket inspiration for my new niece. I had all the yarn I needed to create this beauty – it was meant to be.
I realized this blanket was going to be amazing after the first few squares. I chose a different color palette than the pattern recommends and they go together beautifully! I can’t think of a more cheery blanket to welcome her into the world with.
I have shared my blanket making journey on my social pages and as I expected, was met with a huge response. I just knew I had to teach you how to make the Fair and Square Blanket!
The Caron Fair and Square Blanket is made up of 25 granny squares that blend classic crochet with a modern twist.
You’ll use three different colors to crochet three different variants of the same square pattern. Once you learn how to crochet the square, you’re set. Piece of cake. It will likely be harder to decide on only three colors from Yarnspirations wide variety of Caron One Pound Yarn. There are 39 colors to choose from!
If you want to make your own Fair and Square Blanket, here’s what you’ll need to do:
