Gather Your Supplies

Bernat Mix Home yarn is sold exclusively at Michaels Craft Stores. You can purchase your supplies in store or online. I’ve provided the links to the yarn and pillow forms for your convenience! 

Gauge and Sizing

  • Pillow One – 12 sts x 16 rows = 4″ in slip stitch
  • Pillow Two – 9 sts x 7 rows = 4″ in half double crochet

Abbreviations

  • Ch – Chain
  • Hdc – Half Double Crochet
  • PM – Place Marker
  • Rem – Remaining
  • Sk – Skip
  • Slst – Slip Stitch
  • Sts – Stitches

Written Instructions

Crochet Pillow One

With color A, ch 49.

Row 1: Slst in second ch from hook and in each rem ch. Turn

Row 2: Ch 1. Slst tbl of each st. Turn.

Rep row 2 until your work measures 12” from starting edge. Make two.

Seam the sides and top edge together using a whip stitch or preferred method. Add 12”x16” pillow form. Seam bottom edge together.

Crochet Pillow Two

With color B, ch 54.

Row 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch. Turn

Row 2: Ch 2. Hdc in every stitch. Turn

Rep row 2 until your work measures 22” from starting edge or size to match measurement of width. Do not fasten off. Continue working in the round by moving on to the side. The last stitch of your last row is the first stitch of the first round.


Round 1:  Ch 3. 3 hdc in first stitch (pm in middle st). Evenly space 51 sts in the side of the work. 3 Hdc in first stitch of bottom edge (pm in middle st.) Hdc in each stitch on bottom edge. 3 Hdc in last stitch of bottom edge (pm in middle st). Evenly space 51 sts in the side of the work. 3 Hdc in first stitch of top edge (pm in middle stitch). Hdc in each stitch on top edge. Join with a slst to 2nd ch.

Round 2: Ch 3. *Hdc each st until you reach the marker. 3 hdc in marked stitch (place marker in middle st). Rep from * twice more. Hdc each st to the end of round. Join with slst to 2nd ch.

Rep round 2 until you have a 28”x28” square.


Assembly: Lay work out flat with wrong side facing up. Fold each of the four corners into the middle. Fasten on with color B and join with a slst at one of the corners using the back loop of one side and the front loop of the other side. Slst to middle of “X”. Add the pillow form and continue slip stitching the two sides. Fasten off at the opposite corner. Fasten on with color B in one of the open corners. Slst the two sides together and fasten off at opposite corner.

Fringe: Make cuts of yarn that are 8” long. Fold in half and attach to each stitch of the join.
