Gauge and Sizing
10 sts x 9 rows = 4″ in pattern
Your finished cowl will measure approximately 26″ in circumference and 10.5″ from top to bottom.
- Ch – Chain
- Fwd – Forward Pass
- Rtn – Return Pass
- Rem – Remaining
- Sk – Skip
- Sts – Stitches
- Tps – Tunisian Purl Stitch
- Tss – Tunisian Simple Stitch

Foundation Row: Ch 31. Fwd: Pull up a loop in the 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch. Rtn: YO, pull through one loop. *YO and pull through 2 loops. Rep from * to end of row.
Row 1: Fwd: *Tps. Tss. * to end of row. Pull up a loop in last stitch. Rtn: YO, pull through one loop. *YO and pull through 2 loops. Rep from * to end of row.
Row 2: Fwd: *Tss. Tps. * to last two sts. Tss in second to last st. Pull up a loop in last stitch. Rtn: YO, pull through one loop. *YO and pull through 2 loops. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep rows 1 and 2 until your work measures 26″ from the starting edge, ending on a row one return pass. Bind off in pattern.
Assembly: Lay your cowl out flat with the right side facing up. Fold one side to the other so that the cowl is folded in half and the wrong side is showing. Seam the two ends together using the whip stitch. Weave in your ends.
