It’s Another Crochet Poncho CAL!

A couple of years ago, I hosted a crochet poncho CAL and I was blown away by the response. It’s still one of my most popular posts! To check out that pattern and tutorial, you can find it here:

Crochet Poncho 2015 CAL

What was even more notable about that crochet along wasn’t just the number of people who have made that poncho but also the number of people who have requested another. I have heard you loud and clear!

I’m really excited about the new poncho CAL and this time, I’ve added a little twist – the final result is a mystery!

Crochet Along Details

The crochet along has now concluded but the pattern and tutorial will remain available!

There will be three parts to this CAL: clue #1 which is provided for you today, clue #2 that will be available on November 17, 2017 and the final design reveal on November 24, 2017. All of these details – pattern and tutorials will be on this page. I’ll update it each week!

Stitch Description:

Puff Stitch – YO, insert hook into designated stitch, YO and pull up a loop. YO, insert hook into same stitch, YO and pull up a loop. YO, insert hook into same stitch, YO and pull up a loop. YO, insert hook into same stitch, YO and pull up a loop. YO, and pull through all nine loops.

**NOTE: The puff stitch can be worked in several different ways. The description above describes how I work the puff stitch in the video tutorial and for this specific yarn. This is an 9-loop puff stitch. In future patterns, I will always specify how many loops should be on your hook before you finish the puff stitch. This variability is used to create a thick or thin puff stitch.

Pattern Notes

For best results, wet block each element before attaching them together. This will help stretch the panels to the final size and allow the stitches to relax and settle into a nicer shape. For a video demonstration of wet blocking, check out this resource:

All About Blocking

Check your gauge! Make a swatch of single crochet with the yarn you intend to use and the recommended hook size before beginning your poncho. Since sizing matters here, you’ll want to be sure your gauge matches that in the instructions so your poncho fits! Compare your stitch measurements to what’s listed in the gauge section above and adjust the hook size until your measurements match.

The pattern is available in six sizes. They will be listed in the pattern as follows:

XS(S, M, L, XL, XXL)
