Gauge and Sizing

5 sts x 6 rows = 2″ in single crochet

Your finished scarf will measure approximately 7″ wide by 84″ long (not counting fringe)

Abbreviations

  • Ch – Chain
  • Rep – Repeat
  • Rem – Remaining
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • St(s) – Stitches

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked in three sections. We will begin with the center, crocheting a skinny strip. Once we are finished with the center, we’ll fasten on each side to crochet the left and right sections. This technique allows us to explore texture and design while still maintaining a minimalist approach.

Written Instructions

Middle Section

Row 1: Ch 7. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch. (6 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as st). Sc in first st and in each rem st. Turn. (6 sc)

Rep Row 2 for a total of 252 rows. This should get you to the end of your first skein. Fasten off.

Left Section

Fasten on in the side of the first row on either side of your scarf (middle section is reversible so the stitch pattern looks the same on both sides).

Row 1: Ch 1 (does not count as st). Evenly space 203 sc along the left side edge of your scarf. TIP: work one sc in the side of four rows in a row and then skip one row for the best results. (203 sc)

Rows 2-7: Ch 1 (does not count as st). Sc in first st and in each rem st. Turn. (203 sc)

Fasten off.


Right Section

Fasten on in the side of the first row on the right side of your scarf.

Row 1: Ch 1 (does not count as st). Evenly space 203 sc along the left side edge of your scarf. TIP: work one sc in the side of four rows in a row and then skip one row for the best results. (203 sc)

Rows 2-7: Ch 1 (does not count as st). Sc in first st and in each rem st. Turn. (203 sc)

Fasten off and weave in your ends.


Optional Fringe

Make 34 cuts of yarn measuring 8″ long and evenly space along both edges.
