The Drool Worthy Hiya Hiya Needles

It wasn’t long ago I was reporting on my love for Clover Takumi Bamboo circulars. Let me first say that I still love my Takumis and recommend them above all others for complete beginners.

Recently, I have discovered the wonderful world of stainless steel knitting needles and I’m not looking back. I’m referring to the glorious Hiya Hiya interchangeable knitting needles and I’m here today to tell you about my experience with them.

First things first, I’ll only recommend products that I use from stores that I know, like and trust. I know you’re looking to me for not just my personal opinion but a professional opinion as well. I don’t take that responsibility lightly.

All you need is a good set of circulars.

Did you know that you can use circular knitting needles for knitting flat pieces too? Since purchasing this set, my straights have become more of a decoration than a tool. Circular knitting needles, like the Hiya Hiya, are much shorter than straights. This solves two big problems for me : weight and ease of use.

When you knit as much as I do, you really need to care for your hands. Having a really lightweight set of circulars in my hands makes a world of difference.

Have you tried knitting on the couch with straights? How many times have you poked your husband, dog, child or anything else on the couch with the end stopper as you worked? I know I have!

In this episode of B.hooked Knitting, we’re going to have a detailed look at the Hiya Hiya interchangeable set in the large size and through the process, hopefully determine if they are right for you or not.

Here’s What You Need To Know

The Hiya Hiya interchangeable knitting needles are my number one circular needle recommendation for someone who’s serious about knitting. You’ll pay for these but you get what you pay for, right? This set should last you a lifetime so you’ll only have to invest in one set.

I have recently switched to these needles from the Clover Takumi and I haven’t looked back. I find this set much more economical as I only need one cord in each size and all of my needles work with them interchangeably. This is leaps and bounds better than trying to find a place to store six circulars per knitting needle size.

Knitting circulars have two sizing components to them: length and needle size. You will use different sizes for different projects. This set should cover all your bases. Unless you want multiples for knitting more than one project at a time, this set has everything you need.

The case fabric is “assorted”, meaning that it will be a surprise when you open the box. I find this really fun! The color options are: blue, teal, purple, green and red in various patterns.

Included in the large set

  • Handmade fabric case with two zipper pockets and a Velcro protection flap.
  • Six 4″ needles – US 9, 10, 10.5, 11, 13 & 15 (5.5, 6, 6.5, 8, 9, & 10 mm)
  • Four cords – 16″, 24″, 32″ & 40″
  • Needle sizing tool
  • Rubber grips

Cost Investment

I call this an investment for a reason. Your needles are the primary tool you use and if you take care of them, can last you a life time.

The Hiya Hiya interchangeable knitting needle sets must be purchased online. I have not come across them in any retailer or yarn shop.  I ordered my set from Amazon and recommend you do the same. Prime members get FREE 2-day shipping and who wants to wait more than two days to get these beauties in the mail!

Disclosure: Please note that the link below is an affiliate link, and at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you decide to purchase your needles online. Please understand that I have experience with Clover and use them everyday. I recommend them because they are great needles, not because of the small commissions I make if you decide to buy them. Please do not spend any money on this product unless you feel you need them or that they will help you knit better.

As you can see there are a few different options. above from right to left: Large set with 4″ needle tips, Large set with 5″ needle tips, Limited time set for large and small sizes (I would go with this option if I had a redo) 4″ and 5″ options.

If you’ve used Hiya Hiya  knitting needles, please tell me what you think of them. I’d love to hear your thoughts! It also helps others who may be considering to make the investment by hearing multiple different reviews.

Whether you get these needles or not, be prepared for lots of circular knitting needle projects at B.hooked Knitting. You won’t want to miss the great stuff that is coming!

Cheers!
