Gauge and Sizing

6 sts x 5 rows = 4″ (basket weave stitch pattern)

Your finished rug will measure approximately 3′ x 5′.

Abbreviations

  • BPdc – Back Post Double Crochet
  • Ch – Chain
  • Dc – Double Crochet
  • Fpdc – Front Post Double Crochet
  • Rep – Repeat
  • Rem – Remaining
  • Sk – Skip

This crochet rug is worked lengthwise using a basket weave stitch pattern. In order to achieve the desired measurements, be sure to check your gauge and make any changes to your crochet hook that’s necessary to obtain that gauge.

Written Instructions

Ch 64.

Row 1 (set up row): Dc in 4th ch from the hook and in each ch.

Row 2: Ch 2 and turn. FPdc first four sts. *BPdc next 4 sts. FPdc next 4 sts. Rep from * to last st. Dc last st.

Row 3: Ch 2 and turn. FPdc first four sts. *BPdc next 4 sts. FPdc next 4 sts. Rep from * to last st. Dc in 2nd ch.

Row 4: Ch 2 and turn. BPdc first four sts. *FPdc next 4 sts. PFdc next 4 sts. Rep from * to last st. Dc in 2nd ch.

Row 5: Ch 2 and turn. BPdc first four sts. *FPdc next 4 sts. PFdc next 4 sts. Rep from * to last st. Dc in 2nd ch.

Row 6: Ch 2 and turn. BPdc first four sts. *FPdc next 4 sts. PFdc next 4 sts. Rep from * to last st. Dc in 2nd ch.

Row 7: Ch 2 and turn. FPdc first four sts. *BPdc next 4 sts. FPdc next 4 sts. Rep from * to last st. Dc in 2nd ch.

Rows 8 through 39: Rep rows 2 through 7 sequentially for stitch pattern.

Fasten off and weave in your ends.
