When you watch this episode of B.Hooked TV you’ll learn the fundamentals of tension and a few tips so you can improve tension in crochet projects.
Tension is muscle memory that you’ll build with every stitch of every project.
Practice is the best thing you can do to improve tension. Choose a project with one of the basic three stitches (single crochet, half double crochet or double crochet). Find a way that feels natural for you to hold the yarn and work through the awkwardness or inconsistencies.
You’ll know you need to improve tension in crochet projects if the stitches look uneven or you see noticeable holes or gaps. It’s completely normal for beginner crocheters to have trouble with tension. It takes a little while to get used to holding the yarn in a consistent way so the stitches are worked the same each time so be patient with yourself. It will improve with practice!
