If you’re looking for a practical way to use up scrap yarn in your stash, you’re in the right place. Our easy crochet wall hanging combines simple tassels and crochet to create a cozy vibe for your wall.

FAQ: Can I use a different yarn?
Sure, as long as it’s in the same weight category. Check your gauge and adjust as needed so the sizing comes out right. The recommended yarn amount will likely be different too.

This crochet wall hanging combines the use of finger crochet and two different size crochet hooks. If you only have a 9 mm hook or a 10 mm hook, you may use only one and the results will be very similar.

Written Instructions


Crochet the Frame

Step 1: With LB Collection Wool yarn, create a slip knot and make 17 sc around embroidery hoop starting from the left side of the adjustment block piece (right side if you’re left handed). Switch to Color Made Easy yarn in last stitch. (Minute Mark 0:54)

Step 2: With Color Made Easy yarn and 10 mm crochet hook, make 44 sc around embroidery hoop. (Minute Mark 2:15)

Tip! keep the “v’s” of the stitch situated on the top. Fasten off and weave in your ends.

Crochet Spiral

With Color Made Easy yarn and 9 mm crochet hook…

Round 1: Ch 3. 7 hdc in first ch. Do not join. Continue to work in spiral this round and throughout. (8 sts)

Round 2: 2 hdc in the BLO of each stitch. PM in first stitch of round. (16 sts)

Round 3: 1 hdc in the BLO of first st. *2 hdc in the BLO of next st. 1 hdc in the BLO of next s. Rep from * to last st. 2 hdc in the BLO of last st. (24 sts)

Round 4: Ch 2 and turn work. 1 dc in rem loop next 45 sts. 1 hdc next 2 loops. 1 sc in the last loop. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly: Use hot glue to attach the spiral to the adjustment block on the embroidery hoop.

Fringe & Assembly

Step 1: Make 40 cuts of Stitchbird yarn that measure approx. 43″ in length. Group them in sets of 8 and add them as tassels to the front loop of the first five wool yarn stitches. (Minute Mark 6:43)

Step 2: Make 5 cuts of LB Collection Wool yarn that measure approx. 16″ in length. Add them as tassels to the same five stitches as the Stitchbird tassels using the back loop. (Minute Mark 7:14)

Step 3: Make 10 cuts of Color Made Easy yarn that measure approx. 10″ in length and add them as tassels to the front loop of 5 stitches next to the spiral. (Minute Mark 8:05)

Step 4: Hang your wall hanging and trim the stitchbird tassels at an angle that points upward. Trim the LB Collection Wool tassels at an angle in the opposite direction. Trim the Color Made Easy yarn tassels at an angle that matches the wool yarn tassels.
