A new way to crochet corner to corner in a beautiful one skein shawl.

Skill Level | Easy
Finished Size | 58″ wide; 24″ long

About this Pattern

If you’re looking for a crochet shawl pattern that uses a single skein of Shawl In A Ball Yarn, you’re in the right place. With a classic twist on the classic granny stitch, this shawl is one of our favorites.

With this project you’ll learn how to crochet the classic granny stitch corner-to-corner style, rather than in rows as it’s traditionally worked. This makes for a triangle shawl that starts at the bottom point and works up as you progress through the pattern.

Before you begin, review this page entirely so you understand the full scope of the project. We prepared a list of recommended supplies and abbreviations you’ll need to get started, a video tutorial and, of course, written instructions to walk you through our one skein crochet shawl step-by-step.

Additional Notes

Finished Size

58″ wide; 24″ long (top to center point)

Gauge

First five rows = 5″ across

Additional Notes: This crochet shawl uses the corner to corner (C2C) method of working the traditional granny stitch. If unfamiliar with this stitch, have a look at this tutorial for a look at how to crochet it.

Chain 4 at beginning of row counts as one double crochet and on chain.

You will only use one skein of Shawl in a Ball for this pattern and size, however if you want a larger shawl, add a second ball and continue with the repeat until it reaches the desired size.

You may substitute yarn to achieve the same look but understand that doing so will effect the gauge and size of your finished project. It’s a rather versatile pattern, so to substitute yarn, start with the recommended hook size on your yarn band and continue with the stitch repeat until it measures the desired size.
