About this Pattern

If you’re looking for a crochet hat pattern that’s as versatile as it is easy, you’re in the right place. The Basic Top-Down Crochet Hat here at B.Hooked is great for donating, gifting and of course, if you are crocheting a hat for the first time.

With this project you’ll learn the fundamentals of crocheting a hat starting at the crown and working down to the band. Speaking of the band, you’ll learn a classic way to add a ribbed texture using post stitches.

Before you begin, review this page entirely so you understand the full scope of the project. We prepared a list of recommended supplies and abbreviations you’ll need to get started, a video tutorial demonstrating how to crochet it step-by-step and written instructions to complete this hat from start to finish.
