About this Pattern
If you’re looking for a versatile men’s crochet hat, you’re in the right place. This one works up in a matter of hours and is easy enough for crocheters of all skill levels.
This pattern was created for our 2019 Crochet Challenge for Warm Up America and is still an excellent choice for donations. It’s worked from crown to band using basic crochet stitches which gives color changes a chance to steal the show.
Before you begin, review this page entirely so you understand the full scope of the project. We prepared a list of recommended supplies and abbreviations you’ll need to get started, a video tutorial and, of course, written instructions to walk you through this basic men’s crochet hat from start to finish.
- Approx 130 yds; Medium weight yarn (pictured: Paintbox Simply Aran)
- 6.5 mm Crochet Hook (or size needed to obtain gauge)
- Yarn Needle
FAQ : Can I use a different yarn?
Sure, as long as it’s in the same weight category. Check your gauge to make sure the substitution won’t effect the sizing and keep in mind the recommended yarn amount will likely be inaccurate.
