About this Pattern


If you’re new to color work crochet or you’re looking to expand your colorwork skills into tapestry crochet, this is a great project to start with. it’s quick, easy and one of the more simple diagrams you’ll come across.

With this project you’ll get to practice tapestry crochet skills like working with two colors at once, working from a diagram and maintaining proper tension throughout the project. We recommend using two colors that have some contrast between them so you can see the snowflake design but feel free to get creative with your choices!

  • Approx 45 yds; Lion Brand Heartland
  • Color A: Olympic; approx25 yds
  • Color B: Acadia; approx 20 yds
  • 5 mm Crochet Hook
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors

16.5 sts and 18 rounds = 4″ worked in sc

Additional Notes:

The color portion of this project is worked in traditional tapestry crochet – so you should work over the color you’re not
currently crocheting with, and pick it back up when the pattern specifies.

This will create yarn “floats” on the inside of the cozy. It’s important to make sure there isn’t too much tension on these floats so it doesn’t alter the shape of the cozy.

Written Instructions


Round 1: With color A, ch 35. 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each rem ch. Taking care not to twist, join with a slst to first sc. (34 sts)

Round 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in first st. 1 sc in each rem st. Join with a slst to first sc.

Cont with round 2 as the repeat for the entire pattern. Refer to the color diagram for the color pattern. Join color B and leave both colors attached throughout the pattern. Work over the non-working color.

When finished with round 15, cut color B and cont with round 2 repeat.

Step 1: Using the tail from the initial slip knot, secure the first and last stitch of the first row. Weave in the end.

Step 2: Weave in the remaining ends.
